SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver Instructions

Your SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver is designed to keep your brown sugar soft and fresh for months and months on end.. Just follow the three easy steps to keep your brown sugar fresh and ready to use whenever you need it. You can even save brown sugar that is rock-hard and normally would be thrown away. The SugarBaby Saver is also great for other uses like dried fruit, marshmallows, licorice, soft cookies, gummy bears/jube jube candy, coconut and even cigar/tobacco products to name but a few!

Before First Use

Remove all labeling or information inserts from the SugarBaby Saver. Wash (with hot and soapy water) and dry all parts of your SugarBaby Saver. This includes the sponge, rubber seal (remove it from the ceramic lid to clean and then replace it onto the lid), ceramic lid and the glass jar. The metal hardware should be dried immediately to help prevent discolouration. Ensure that all the water has been removed from inside the ceramic lid. Once your SugarBaby Saver is clean and dry it is ready to use!

*If you clean your SugarBaby Saver in the dishwasher please detach the metal hardware, remove the rubber seal and the sponge-the seal and hardware components should be washed and dried by hand to ensure a longer shelf life.  The sponge can be left to dry on its own.

Three Easy Steps To Use Your SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver

For Fresh Sugar

1. Moisten Sponge

Moisten the sponge and squeeze out excess water. The sponge should feel damp, not wet or sopping.

2. Return Sponge

Return sponge to humidor lid.

3. Fill Jar With Brown Sugar

Fill your SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver with your favourite brand of brown sugar, fasten the lid, and enjoy having the tasty goodness of soft brown sugar at your fingertips!

For Rock-Hard Brown Sugar

1. Moisten Sponge and don't fully ring out the excess water allowing a more moist sponge

A moister sponge will help to speed up hydration. Never have your sponge so wet that it is dripping or sopping. Return the sponge to the SugarBaby humidor lid.

2. Break your hardened brown sugar into more manageable pieces and fit them into the SugarBaby Saver.

As the hardened brown sugar begins to soften, stir 2-3 times over the 12-24 hour period to help move the humidity around in your SugarBaby Saver. This helps to speed up hydration. WIthout stirring the brown sugar will still rehydrate, but it will require a longer period of time (24-48 hours) to completely soften. It will become fresh and useable just like new again!

3.Hardened Brown Sugar in your SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver

If you have left your brown sugar in your SugarBaby Saver for 4+ months it will harden. Simply remoisten your sponge and as the brown sugar begins to soften, stir 2-3 times during the 12-24 hours to help speed up hydration. Without stirring, leave the brown sugar longer 24-48 hours for full hydration.

For Other Food Products (dried fruit, marshmallows, licorice, etc.) or Cigars/Tobacco

1. Moisten the sponge with less water

Really squeeze the excess water from the sponge as less water is required for other food items (dried fruit, marshmallows and licorice). Return the sponge to the SugarBaby humidor lid. Or you can leave your sponge drier for longer periods of time as it doesn't need to be remoistened as frequently as for use with brown sugar.

2. Fill your SugarBaby Saver with the other food product or cigar/tobacco items

You must start with FRESH food products as the SugarBaby Saver can not rehydrate other items like it does the brown sugar, but the SugarBaby Saver does keep other food products or tobacco items fresher longer.

Maintenance Tips For SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver

  • Check the sponge periodically and re-moisten if necessary.
  • The use of distilled water will prolong sponge life.
  • The humidity level in the SugarBaby Brown Sugar Saver depends on the amount of sugar in the jar, the type of brown sugar being used and the frequency with which the jar is opened.
  • If anything comes into contact with your sponge you can boil it for 5-10 minutes to disinfect it. Boiling=bacteria free.
